Douala is facing another water supply disruption. The Regional Directorate of Douala-Agglomeration (DRDA) of CAMWATER announced last Sunday, through its communication platforms, that several neighborhoods will be affected by low pressure, or even service interruptions.
This situation follows a major power outage on the Southern interconnected network, affecting all of CAMWATER’s production units. On the night of Saturday, October 19 to Monday, October 20, 2024, the incident caused an uproar among the population, already facing difficulties with electricity supply from ENEO a few hours earlier.
“Due to power disruptions […] affecting all of its production units, water supply is experiencing low pressure, or even interruptions depending on the altitude, in some neighborhoods of Douala,” reads a statement from CAMWATER.

The water company, however, assures its subscribers that the situation will gradually return to normal during the day. “Some areas located at higher altitudes may experience disruptions until Monday, October 21,” the statement clarifies, also offering apologies to subscribers for the inconvenience caused.
Despite these assurances, the population remains skeptical, denouncing frequent and prolonged interruptions in water supply. Many voices are rising on social media to express their frustration and anger at this recurring situation.
