The Board of Directors of the Central African States Development Bank have approved the 2024 finance budget which runs up to nearly 120 billion. This decision was reached during an extraordinary working session of the board of directors of the bank which took place in Douala – Cameroon on December 19, 2023 under the chairmanship of Mr. Fortunate – Ofa Mbo Nchama minister of finance and budget of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
In the course of this working session, some of the affairs of the agenda which were brought up by the president of Bank, Mr. Dieudonné Evou Menkou were; the examination of the 2024 draft budget, the continuation of reforms through several draft texts and the examination of financing proposals. And it was during these discussions that the 2024 draft budget was approved. This was in view of supporting the implementation of the bank’s operational activities during the next functional year and it amounts to 70 billion in capital.
The Board of Directors also provided their support to the management of the bank by approving several projects to reformulate texts which were submitted to them. These concerns among others were; the internal regulations of the General Assembly, the Board of Directors, the risks committee as well as the risks declaration.
As concerns the finance proposals, for financing new projects, the board approved several projects which amounted approximately to 120 billion FCFA. These projects cover several areas such as; roads, industry and tourism and the implementation of these projects will have a strong economic and social impact, in terms of creating wealth of states, creation of direct and indirect jobs and improving on the living conditions of the population.
The president of BDEAC extended his thanks to the government of Cameroon for warm welcome and all the measures put in place in terms of security and material support given to the participants of the general assembly.
